Harnessing Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges

Deanna Tanner Okun speaks at the National Economists Club (NEC) Luncheon in Washington, D.C. on May 9, 2013.  Topics include an overview of the U.S. International Trade Commission, where Ms. Okun recently completed twelve years as Chairman of the Commission.  During her presentation, entitled, "Innovation and Global Trade, Harnessing Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges," Ms. Okun addresses the importance of the U.S. intellectual property system, new scrutiny of non-practicing entity/patent assertion entity (NPE/PAE) litigation, the smartphone wars, and proposed changes to the Section 337 statute.
