Adduci, Mastriani & Schaumberg LLP always looks forward to our summer activities. In the past, we’ve enjoyed playing softball with other firms. This year, we have to get more creative with our fitness. One of our attorneys, Joshua W. Rodriguez, put together virtual workout routines. He organized daily fitness videos and workouts, then teamed us up on the weekend to compete in a fitness challenge. The last challenge was 2 minute rounds of push-ups, jumping jacks, burpees, and squats. The team with the most repetitions within the time given were the champions.
Another activity we look forward to is the annual Lawyers Have Heart race. This past June, the AMS Avengers completed the 30th Anniversary of Lawyers Have Heart 5k/10k walk and run to raise money for the American Heart Association (AHA). To comply with social-distancing, the race was virtual. In total, 278 companies and over 3,000 racers participated and helped raise $676,303.38. Our team raised over $750. This money helps fund new research to investigate the cardiovascular implications of coronavirus, train health care workers on the front lines, and advocate to provide families greater access to care.
Since the race was remote, our team ran separately and in different parts of the country. One attorney said, "I had a great run around Columbia Heights/U St.!" One took a lovely morning walk through DC, along Meridian Hill Park, over to Mount Pleasant, through Columbia Heights, then back down the hill through Dupont. Another AMS Avenger recruited her sister and ran the 10k at their local track in Central New York. AMS’s managing partner, Deanna Tanner Okun, did the 10K race in Georgetown, then took a photo with Chief Counsel of Children’s Hospital and Partner at Mayer Brown.
Near or far, the AMS team was happy to join together and raise over $750 for this great cause. We’re staying strong this summer!
